Modern technology, and modern publishing is creating new ways to produce art. New media forms like video, are becoming available to those, who previously could not conceive of gaining access to that technology.

Modern forms of publishing also bring about new possibilities for creating 'on masse' high quality productions, such as audio cd's, made in the average home. This trend is increasing, becoming easier, and cheaper.

...we need to bring this together in some way.

Previously people have licensed out their work to publishers who have gained the copyright control of the work, made their money, and left the artist,or producer behind. This is changing too.

Open-Content licenses are now being widely used to retain the control within the hands of the producer.
