The Black Earth Media Catalogue...

So far, we have birthed 10 records into the world. Since our initial burst of energy at our inception in 2000, things have slowed down. I've seem to have spent the last few years reproducing children rather than records. Still, with an ever rising popularity, and a growing number of artists, we can expect to see many more to follow.

BEMCD01: Sunrise - Growing Pains

This was the one which kicked it all off. Sunrise's debut is a collection of 9 remastered tracks from their back catalogue of dusty recordings. Intended as a journey through their early years, with the tracks listed oldest first. A varying range of moods can be found on this album, some live, some studio, all in their unique experimental electronic style. Still sounding fresh to this day. Line up consists of Andy Teasdale & Andy Grant.

BEMCD02: Sunrise - Everything Seems Different Now

In this second album Sunrise have evolved from the purely electronic by adding many acoustic elements. Live guitars and hand drums add to this soundscape along side the usual range of synthetic sounds you have come to expect from the Sunrise duo. The music has more feeling and the compositions have more subtle complexities. The shifts in style and mood from one track to the next leaves your ears refreshed and open to the unexpected. Sunrise have definitely bettered themselves!

Essentially this has a folk backbone with influences from the east, as shown with the soulfull sound of indian percussion instruments, such as the tablas and mridang, spanish guitar melodies, complex harmonica playing and beautiful lyrical compostions.

BEMCD09: Jester Band - Incarnations

October 2006 sees Black Earth Media's 9th release, "Incarnations" by Jester Band. A fine blend of blues, r&b & folk rock, Jester Band will gently soothe your soul. A strong spiritual vibe throughout, with a couple of familiar covers thrown in.

BEMCD10: Sunrise - Equinox

The third album from Sunrise is a studio based collection of varying styles and moods. Keeping on the electronic feel, but with some pieces (Paper Thin) being purely acoustic guitar, heavily sampled, edited & looped. Other directions are ventured into in My Imaginary Friend where a purely pizzicato string style developes numerically around the fibbonacci series of numbers. So, well, some pieces may not be to the common taste buds, but experimentally speaking definitely worth a listen - while others deliver that classic Sunrise vibe we've all come to know and love. Without a doubt the most polished production from Sunrise yet.
